Muslim Brotherhood targets India in new propaganda campaign

A trend on Twitter, #Boycotte Indian products, was launched a few days ago and has been going on ever since. It was started by the Muslim Brotherhood, which with fake news and multiple afflicted “media” targets India’s economic interests.

The target was India, but it ended up targeting Saudi Arabia instead.

The campaign, according to The disinfo lab, primarily targeted Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, in particular Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman of Saudi Arabia, or had good relations with India.

However, relations with India are just a trick. It was not a one-off campaign, and the Qatar-Turkey-Pakistan Nexus targeted Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates for questioning their “right” to be the leader of the Islamic world.

The idea is obvious – by discrediting MBS, the leader of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, would be crowned the legitimate leader of the Ummah (worldwide Muslim community).

The Ertugrul Ghazi was the prelude. The Ottoman Empire is undergoing an overhaul! Well .. you see the picture.

India was not the only country targeted by this economic boycott. The campaign also targeted France, asking to boycott French products.

This social media trend wasn’t just in the virtual realm. There is a solid economic rationale behind this.

By creating the subordinate boycott culture through social media, they would also create a powerful weapon. And once the Qatar-Turkey-Pakistan nexus takes center stage in the Islamic world, it would create an exclusionary economy of gigantic proportions.

The economic power created by the bond will not only affect the Muslim world, but dictate conditions around the world – in the name of accommodating this huge market.

Qatar’s petro-dollars (gas dollars to be precise) may not last forever to support radical Islamists in the Muslim Brotherhood. They would need a new economic logic to support their radical ideas. It could be.

Around September 26, a trend was observed on social media with the hashtag – # مقاطعة_المنتجات_الهندية (#BoycottIndianProducts).

The trend was mostly in Arabic except for a few handles which also used the trend in English.

Over the past few days, some social media users in the Arab world (mainly Egypt and Iraq), as well as Turkish and Pakistani users have been running a coordinated campaign, with the hashtags # مقاطعة_المنتجات_الهندية (#BoycottIndianProducts) and الهمليند_تقت IndiaIsKillingMuslims).

They called for a boycott of Indian products to teach India a lesson. The call for the ban was launched, citing atrocities committed against Muslims in India.

While at first glance it seemed to #Boycott_Indian_Products that it was a reaction to the most unfortunate and most condemnable incident in North East India, it became evident that the trigger wouldn’t have mattered.

Given the overwhelming amount of fake news used in the campaign, it is evident that activists were waiting for an excuse – any excuse. The only incident was driven by an overdose of fake news – recycling all old and unrelated media.

It was not a spontaneous reaction. The same campaign has been running for four years – starting in 2018.

These campaigns (#BoycottIndianProducts) were launched earlier in January 2018; February 2019; and September 2020. However, they never had much success.

While the reasons are unclear, the Pakistani establishment has not been effective – and maybe that’s why the Muslim Brotherhood stepped in?

The mainstream media of the Muslim Brotherhood also participated in this false information campaign.

Al Jazeera

From being a “fresh alternative voice” to the Western “world media” – to falling squarely into the categories of propaganda media – AJ’s journey has been rather rapid, taking unconditional positions of the Muslim Brotherhood since the so-called spring. Arabic in 2011.

Not only were most of the basic reporting standards lacking, one of AJ’s sister news outlets then recycled the story via her Twitter every six hours.

All major Al Jazeera portals promoted the campaign by tweeting from its various handles i.e. Al Jazeera Global, Arab, Kuwait, Turkey, Egypt etc.

AJ’s perspective on India has been less than transparent, to say the least. He has a habit of sharing fake news, particularly targeting India.

AJ’s anti-Indian slant was also visible, where it did not show the J&K as part of India, which is followed by all news houses publishing in India. This is not unique to India, as most countries want any publication on their territory to describe their official claims.

For a global audience, most neutral platforms adopt the UN maps. But AJ’s sympathies were clear.

What is even more shocking is that AJ did not show Lakshadweep and the Andaman Islands as part of India, territories that are not even in dispute.

The United States has ordered the Al Jazeera affiliate to register as a foreign agent.

The justice ministry said AJ +, a media outlet supported by the Qatari royal family, is engaging in “political activities”.

As noted above, several of its reporters were found to be members of the Muslim Brotherhood, with some having been on terrorism watch lists.

TRT World

TRT World is a Turkish state-owned public news channel. It is managed by the Turkish Radio and Television Society and is strongly aligned with the Muslim Brotherhood.

TRT World is one of many news houses to cover the news and even promote the #BoycottIndianProducts campaign.

However, TRT World has taken a head start and has dispelled any doubts about its intentions.

He launched a promotion for the news article through TRT Arabia, which ran an ad on Facebook (now deleted).

The target location for the ad could not be determined because it is currently active.

Although it is not common for a major news outlet to run paid advertisements for a particular news article, some news houses still do. But the story of TRT’s paid promotions tells its own story.

As is the case with such efforts, fake news is almost always part of the package.

TRT World also shared several fake news through its portal targeting India.

Incidentally, the fake news from TRT is not limited to just targeting India, but also other countries that may not be on the books of the Turkish government and the Muslim Brotherhood.
