WEST PALM BEACH, FLORIDA, USA, April 4, 2022 /EINPresswire.com/ — Spero Georgedakisfounder and CEO of Good Greek Moving and Storagewas appointed to the board of directors of the Palm Beach County Homeless Coalition. Georgedakis, a strong supporter of giving back to the community, is honored to join the coalition’s mission to end homelessness in Palm Beach County.

Founded in 1986, the nonprofit Homeless Coalition of Palm Beach County brings together community members, including business leaders, to work together to end homelessness. The coalition is using a variety of strategies, many of which are aimed at bridging the growing gap between some residents’ income and the cost of housing.

Spero Georgedakis has long supported the coalition. He is proud to now be a member of the board of directors. In addition to working hard for the coalition, he also hopes to publicize the organization’s efforts.

“It’s about serving the community. It’s something I was taught to do as a child and continued to practice in my adult life,” said Spero Georgedakis, who is the son of Greek immigrants to America. . “Given that I am known in the community, I hope that my selection to the board of directors will make the mission of the coalition better known. I pledge to do everything I can, using every resource at my disposal, to help end homelessness in Palm Beach County.

Georgedakis, who remembers his own parents struggling as he was growing up, said he learned about the widespread problem of homelessness while working with the coalition.

“As the coalition reports, approximately one in five children in Palm Beach County grows up in poverty. Every night, hundreds of county families are either homeless or on the verge of losing their homes – a terrifying experience,” Georgedakis said. “I truly believe it is the duty of those who have achieved a level of success in a community to come together and do whatever we can to end these kinds of situations.”

The Palm Beach County Homeless Coalition uses a variety of fundraising strategies, including writing grants, foundation funds, and most importantly, support from community members. The coalition works continuously to build a strong coalition of individuals, local businesses, corporations, and organizations large and small. Many families in Palm Beach County would not have shelter without the community support efforts put in place by the coalition.

The term on the board lasts at least two years. In a letter welcoming Georgedakis to the board, Homeless Coalition of Palm Beach County President Paul E. Dumars wrote, “We anticipate that your skills and experience will be an asset to our board and we look forward to working with you in the near future.

The board position is one of many projects Georgedakis is working on to benefit the community. He uses Good Greek Moving & Storage vehicles on the annual Toys for Tots Drive holiday. He also supports, with volunteer hours and donations, the South Florida Fair American Heroes Day, the American Red Cross, Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, the Boys and Girls Club and the Police Athletic League.
